Patient Care Technician 12th

Are you interested in the Nursing Field? Would you like to make an impact in the everyday lives of your patients? Do you want to partake in direct patient care?  Then Patient Care Technician is the cluster for you.

Course Description

This is a full year course to prepare students to work alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care in a variety of healthcare environments. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in the healthcare delivery setting, often having more patient contact than any other team member, including doctors and nurses. The PCT course prepares students to work as an entry-level PCT in a clinic, hospital, wound care center or long-term care facility. Students will be able to check vital signs, preform CPR and First aid, assist in medical examinations, and preform electrocardiograms (EKGs), basic laboratory procedures, and phlebotomy. This program is taught with a combination of lecture, practical exercises in the medical laboratory and with real world experience during internship. This state-certification course teaches students basic patient care skills and includes a ten-week non-paid internship at a local healthcare facility.
